Privacy Policy

Short version: we have no accounts, we do not sell or share your data with anyone, and we do not run advertising today. The only personal detail we ever hold is an email address, and only if you send us a message or report a road. If that ever changes, this page changes first.

What we collect

Your email address, but only if you write to us. The contact form and the road condition reports both ask for one, and both send you a link to click before anything happens. That confirmation step exists so nobody can put your address on a message you did not write.

We store the address with the message or report so we can reply and so we can tell genuine reports from noise. We do not add it to any list, we do not market to you, and we do not pass it to anyone. There are still no accounts and no passwords, and we never ask for payment details.

If you would like a message or report of yours removed, write to us from the same address and we will delete it.

Standard server logs. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare records ordinary request information such as IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referring page, and user agent, and uses it to serve the site and to protect it from abuse. We do not use those logs to build a profile of you. Cloudflare's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Bot verification. The check on the front page is Cloudflare Turnstile. It looks at browser signals to decide whether you are a person. It is designed not to track people across sites and does not use your data for advertising.

Your location, only if you ask for it. If you choose "Nearest to me", your browser asks permission and gives the page your approximate coordinates. That happens entirely inside your browser: it is used to sort a list you are already looking at, and it is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We do not store it. Deny the permission and every other feature still works.

We count page views, and that is all we count. When a page is requested, our server adds one to a tally for that page on that date. A row looks like "2026-08-23, /map/jenks-ok, 41". That is the whole of it. We do not store your IP address, we do not set a cookie, we do not create a device or session identifier, and there is no third party script involved. Nothing in that tally can be traced back to a person, including by us. We keep it so we can tell which towns people actually use, and so we can show a prospective sponsor how many people read the maps.

If we add advertising later

This is a free site with running costs. We may one day add advertising to cover them. If we do, we will update this page and the Cookie Policy before any advertising code is added, say plainly which advertising partner is involved and what it receives, and provide a consent choice where the law requires one. We will not retroactively apply new sharing to data collected under this version of the policy.

Links out

Directions links open Google Maps or Apple Maps. Once you follow one, you are on their site under their privacy policy, not ours.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information about you, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Because we do not collect identifying information and hold no accounts, in almost every case we have nothing to look up. You can still contact us and we will respond.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the change is described here.
